RJW White Mini Snake (Buoyant)

The White Mini Snake is a buoyant twist on the modern snake pattern, designed specifically to target trout feeding high in the water. At 5 cm in length and tied short with the hook presented closer to the tail, it offers excellent hook-up rates while retaining the lifelike movement that makes snake patterns so effective. Two strands of Aero yarn are incorporated to give the fly lift and keep it riding high in the surface film, making it ideal when trout are smashing fry near the top.

Mini versions of the traditional snake have become hugely popular in recent times, and this white variant is a standout when fish are locked onto silvery prey. Its pale profile is highly visible and creates a tempting target that mimics struggling fry on or just under the surface. Cast it over feeding fish and be ready—aggressive trout will often charge up and rip this fly straight off the top.
