RJW Black Shipman’s

The Black Shipman’s is a finely tied dry fly that imitates emerging midges and other small insects. The slim body is tied using a hair and squirrel blend dubbing in deep black, segmented with a subtle pearl rib to add contrast and trigger strikes. Antron fibers are added to the wing area to improve buoyancy, allowing the fly to sit naturally and lightly on the surface. This pattern is particularly effective when trout are feeding selectively on emergers during midges and other small insect hatches.
