Red Apps Chaser

The Apps Chaser is a unique Apps worm variation designed to maximise mobility and vibration when fished. Tied in the same style as a traditional snake fly, two individual bodies are dressed on separate hooks and linked by a strong fibrous braid. When pulled or stripped, this creates a pulsating movement through the fly that can be irresistible to trout.

This unique design offers a more dynamic profile in the water and has proved itself as a top-performing pattern in Ryan’s own fishing. Designed by Ryan from RJWFlies in 2024, the Apps Chaser has been particularly effective during early winter and late spring, when stocked rainbows are lively and up for a chase.

The Apps Chaser is best fished on a slow to mid intermediate line and works particularly well with the rolly polly method or using short, sharp pulls. It can also be highly effective when fished in deeper water on a DI3 or DI5, retrieved slowly to keep the fly working in the fish’s feeding zone.

In short, it’s an Apps worm with a twist — offering anglers something different when trout are looking for movement and a more dynamic presentation.
