The Hot Head Olive Snake is a versatile stillwater pattern designed to entice both rainbows and brown trout. Tied with soft olive rabbit fur stretched over two hooks, the front hook is clipped to enhance movement and create a lifelike swimming action. A bright orange bead at the head adds weight and a strong strike trigger, while subtle gold and silver flash throughout the body provides just the right shimmer to attract attention in a range of water conditions.

This fly works particularly well on intermediate or sinking lines, using either a steady figure-of-eight retrieve or short pull-and-pause actions to maximize its swimming action. It is highly effective in cooler months and in slightly coloured water, when trout are more actively hunting baitfish.
