Black Booby

Black Booby

A classic dark Booby pattern with plenty of movement and a subtle touch of flash. The fly is tied with a black Straggle Fritz body, giving it a full, mobile profile in the water, with a matching black wing and tail to maintain the overall dark silhouette.

Pearl flash fibres are worked through the wing, adding a restrained flash that catches the light as the fly moves without taking away from the predominantly black profile. This combination gives the pattern a good balance of contrast, movement and attraction.

The buoyant Booby design makes this a versatile pattern for stillwater fishing, particularly when fished on a sinking line. It can be worked at different depths and retrieved at varying speeds, allowing you to cover the water column and find where the fish are feeding.

The Black Booby is a useful pattern when trout are responding to dark flies, while the small amount of pearl flash gives the fly just enough extra attraction to stand out.
